New name: you may be used to going to the “Promoter Drop Box” to search for gigs. We’ve decided to simplify by changing the name to “Find Gigs.” You know what to do there!

Improved search functions: we’ve implemented “auto complete” technology. In less fancy terms, you start typing the name of the gig you’re looking for and we’ll finish it for you. This allows you to find what you’re looking for faster.

New look and feel: you’ll see the pages have a fresh look. We thought it was time for an update. We don’t want to bore you! Now, when you log in you can access account information and recommendations from the right side of the page, not just from within your account.

Simplified search results: we’ve removed a few columns so that the page layout is simpler and easier to scan (and we hope you find it that way). You can still add or remove content if you click on the “Customize View” link from the results page.

Gig Page Reorganization
We’ve reorganized the page so that you can see current gig information at the top and any history about that gig from past years at the bottom. If that promoter has other listings that are open, those will show as well. Everything you need to know about the gig, all in one place.

We recently gave the My Submissions area where artists keep track of their past submissions a bit of a facelift and a few new features.

• Incomplete Submissions are displayed in their own tab on the My Account page.
• The My Submissions tab now displays the 5 most recently updated submissions along with their status. If the status is “Submitted” or “Interested” you’ll also be able to see the date the promoter has agreed to send the next update

Clicking “View all complete submissions” from the My Submissions tab on the My Account page will take you to the new My Submissions page.

• There are also quick links to Rate or Review each submission (only selected artists can rate gigs, all others can review).
• You can now Archive Submissions that you don’t want to have in the list anymore by clicking the “Archive” link in the “Actions” column
• A new link to Get Receipts for all of your purchases on Sonicbids should help make your taxes a bit easier. (Quick Tax Tip: If you’re declaring income from your music on your tax return you can write off your Sonicbids submission and membership fees as a business expense.)

I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself and tell you about some things that we’re working on. I’m Tricia Nardullo and I started at Sonicbids a few weeks ago, heading up the Product team. We will be focused on keeping you in the loop about any key features we’re working on, bug fixes that you guys have been waiting on and anything else that we have brewing. Make sure to check in just about every week when we’ll have fresh news to share. Right now, the soup du jour that we’ve been talking about is the new and improved Status Manager. Lou will be posting more on that shortly so stay tuned!

John wanted me to take a sec to post here in the Builder’s Blog about a project I’m currently working on.  We’re planning a major overhaul to the Status Manager tool that promoters use to notify artists of their submission status.  I’m not going to go into all the details here, but I did want to drop a hint about one feature in particular.

The way the status manager exists today it’s not possible for a promoter to asign a status to a submission without reviewing it first.  However, it is possible for a promoter to legitimately review a submission in a way that’s not tracked in the EPK Visits Tracker.  First and foremost we’ll be closing out those loopholes so all submission review activity will be accurately captured. In addition, the new status manager will include the date that your submission was reviewed with your status update.

We don’t have a launch date for the new status manager yet (still working out some final details), but as soon as we do it will be announced here.

We were pleased that we have released 16 updates to the Sonicbids’ web site in the last 5 weeks. These updates represent feature improvements and bug fixes; all were done in the name of constant product improvement. Thanks to everyone involved, our members, our members relations team, the engineers, the UI designers, and our loungineers.

Pop Montreal is using Sonicbids as their online submission platform this year. In addition to using our promoter tools to review and select bands to perform, they’re also using submission information to power an online voting application, which you can check out at http://popmontreal.com/en/popthumbs/ . By making use of our open submission platform, they’re able to give their selected artists more visibility and provide their community with a richer experience.
